Description

A pair of attached houses dating from the early to mid-19th century, located on The Green in Calne. The houses are rendered with limestone dressings, coursed rubble sides, and have moulded ashlar gable stacks topped with a pantile roof. They are built on a double-depth plan, with a 2-storey lean-to on the left side. The houses are three storeys high, with a 3-window front and a 1-window return on the right. No.1 has a double-fronted design and a fanlight above the front doorway, while No.2 has a doorway on the right side. The windows are 2-light on the ground and first floors, with a single light on the second floor, and a central window to No.1. They have 6/6-pane sashes. The rear elevation has a central 1-window range and a narrow, 2-storey lean-to on the left. The interior of No.2 includes a staircase with stick balusters and column newels.
