GV 16/10/95 II

Gatehouse to Roundway Hospital. 1849-50. Probably by T H Wyatt. Bath stone with ashlar dressings and tiled roof with overhanging bracketed eaves. Tall stone chimney stacks, that on gable end with bracketed cornice. Plain cill and floor bands. L-plan. 2-storey. Entrance fa?ade 2 windows, with double aspect round-arched portico in angle of main range and cross wing, banding continues from house with keystones and forming coping to segmental pediments. 6-panelled entrance door, top panels converted to lights. Architraved, hornless sashes, first floor with lugs and ground floor pedimented. Left hand, road front has tripartite sash with round relieving arch to ground floor and architraved round-arched sash with keystone to first floor. Right-hand return with canted bay window to ground floor. Stone walls with coping, approx 3 ft high, flanking main entrance.
