Description
Greenbrae is a villa dating from around 1830, set back from Potterne Road on a higher level. It is two storeys tall and constructed of red brick, topped with a low pitch hipped slate roof that has overhanging eaves. The first floor features three windows with recessed sashes, each four panes wide, and includes block sills and flat rubbed brick arches. On the ground floor, there are two tall recessed windows with two-light marginal glazed casements, where the top panes are hinged, and Venetian shutters. The central door is recessed and consists of six flush panels, four of which are glazed, framed by an architrave surround and accessed by three stone steps.
A notable feature is the iron tent roof porch at the front, supported by open work Ionic pilasters, which have an oval set in necking with lead ornament, and a linked leaf motif in the panels that form the shafts. Delicate scroll brackets adorn the sides of the porch. To the southwest, there is a two-storey wing with a hipped slate roof and shallow eaves cornice, which has one ground floor window that is a recessed sash, four panes wide, also with Venetian shutters. There is a single-storey wing to the northeast, which has one window, although its shutters have been removed.
