Description

This is an 18th-century house located on Castle Street in Calne. It is constructed of limestone rubble, with a central ridge stack and an asbestos slate roof. The building has a three-room plan and a single storey with an attic, featuring a three-window front. The entrance is located on the right-hand end, leading into what was originally the kitchen. The windows are 19th-century casements, and a centrally positioned dormer window has glazing bars. The roof is steeply pitched, with exposed purlins in the gable. The building is attached to the left-hand end of No. 20 Castle Street. The interior has not been inspected. The house’s plan and walling suggest an early construction date.
