Description
Nos 20 and 22 High Street are two cottages that have been combined into one house, dating from around 1600. The building features square-panelled timber framing with brick nogging, and parts have been rebuilt in brick. It has a Bridgwater tiled roof with a brick stack at the left gable end and an additional 19th-century stack at the front. The house is two stories tall and has five windows across its facade. There are planked doors on the left and right of the added stack, with three 2-light casements to the right and one to the left. The first floor contains five 2-light casements. The left side of the building has a rubble stone return wall and an attached single-storey extension from the 19th century. The right return features a rubble stone ground floor with 2-light casements. At the rear, there is an added outshut and a 20th-century dormer on the left. The interior was not accessible during the survey in February 1987, but it is noted to have chamfered beams and open fireplaces with chamfered lintels on brick jambs, including one in the rear left with a truncated stack.
