Description

The Old Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse that has been rebuilt in the late 18th century and is now a detached house. It features rubble stone construction with an ashlar front and a stone slate roof that has two spans and an axial brick stack on the south range. The gable end faces the road, with a former baffle entry located on the left side. The building is two stories tall and has a three-window front. To the right of the center, there is a six-panelled door with a moulded architrave and a flat stone hood supported by brackets. To the left, there is a 2-light recessed hollow-chamfered mullioned casement. A lintel string course runs across the front, and there is a blind mullioned casement in the center, flanked by 2-light casements on either side.

On the left return, which was the former entrance front, there is a blocked central doorway, a 2-light mullioned casement to the right, and three casements on the first floor. Attached to the right return is a single-storey former farm building that now serves as a kitchen and garage. The rear of the house features 20th-century casements, glazed doors, and 20th-century extensions, along with a former bakehouse on the right. Inside, the farmhouse has chamfered beams with ogee stops, a blocked open fireplace with a chamfered lintel on brick jambs, 18th-century six-panelled doors, and an elliptical archway leading to the foot of the winding stairs. The building was formerly known as Ball's Farmhouse.
