Description
No. 5 Wood Street is a house that has been converted into a shop and offices. It dates from the early to mid-19th century and was altered around 1980. The building is constructed from limestone ashlar and features truncated end stacks with a slate hipped roof. It has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys tall with a three-window range. The symmetrical front includes a shop front with late 20th-century glazing bars and an ashlar plinth that curves into a central recessed doorway. There is a plain eaves band, and while the central first-floor window is blocked, the other windows feature 8/8-pane sashes, with the second floor having 4/8-pane sashes with thin bars. The interior has been completely remodelled in the late 20th century.
