Description

A Baptist chapel and school building dated 1836, with later alterations. The structure is built of coursed, squared limestone rubble with limestone dressings, a slate and pantile roof, and a brick lateral stack. It comprises a rectangular chapel and a single-depth schoolroom at the east end. The two-storey, two-window gabled front features a moulded pediment and a late 20th-century gabled porch with an 8/8-pane casement sash window. The former schoolroom, attached to the rear, has 8/8-pane sashes on its side and rear elevations. Internally, the chapel retains a rear gallery supported by cast-iron posts, stairs with column newels and stick balusters, an octagonal pulpit, and two open galleries leading to the schoolrooms, featuring turned balusters. The schoolroom has been altered and is now used as a meeting room.
