Description

Nos 4 to 6 on Herd Street are 18th-century buildings that have been altered over time. No 4 is rendered, while No 5 features a colour-washed brick ground floor and a flint first floor. No 6 is made of colour-washed brick with some flint. All three buildings have a pitched tile roof and brick stacks, and they are two storeys high.

No 4 has three 19th-century sash windows on the first floor and a canted bay with sash windows on the ground floor. There is also a two-storey colour-washed brick extension to the south, which has a pitched tile roof, one range of casements with glazing bars, an open carriage entrance, and a planked door.

No 5 features two 18th-century casements with glazing bars on the first floor, two 19th-century mullion and transom windows on the ground floor, and a planked door beneath a flat hood supported by scrolled brackets.

No 6 has two sash windows on the first floor and one on the ground floor, along with a modern planked door under a flat hood with scroll-shaped brackets.

There are three ashlar steps leading up to the doors of Nos 5 and 6. Nos 2 to 6, along with Nos 9 and 12 to 15, form a group.
