Description

Nos 9 to 13 on Middlebridge Street are 18th-century buildings that stand two storeys high with an attic. The structures are primarily brick, with the ground floor stuccoed. They feature a moulded eaves cornice and an old tile roof, which has a slate verge at No 9. The roof is divided into three sections, with the highest section at the east end.

No 9 includes two dormers with 18th-century casements and three sash windows on the first floor, where the outer windows have four panes. On the ground floor, there is one four-paned window to the left and a six-panel central door with four moulded panels and a small rectangular fanlight. To the right, there are two sash windows without glazing bars.

No 11 has been altered; it has been refronted and the attic storey has been removed. The first floor features two new sash windows, each four panes wide, and slightly overhangs above the ground floor, which has two similar sash windows. A modern glazed door is located to the right.

No 13 is a two-storey building with a hipped old tile roof. It has two sash windows on the first floor, each three panes wide, with stuccoed voussoirs. The ground floor features a 19th-century shop front and door, with a flush panelled door where the upper two panels have been cut away and glazed.

Together, Nos 8 to 13 and Broadwater House on Broadwater Street form a cohesive group.
