Description

This is a pair of 18th-century cottages located on the west side of Herd Street. The ground floor is built of colour-washed brick, while the upper part is tile hung, with an old tile roof. A central chimney rises between the two cottages. The left-hand side has a three-light early 19th-century casement window and a large Yorkshire casement on the ground floor. A small central fixed lead light window and a four-pane sash window are on the first floor. A pair of central ledged doors provide access, with a plain 19th-century angular bay window to the right. Number 3 has a timber-framed lean-to extension with brick nogging, a ledged door, and a casement window. Nos 2 and 3, along with Nos 6, 9, 12 to 15, form a notable group.
