Description

Dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, 2, 3, and 4 The Green consist of three buildings forming a single block with associated railings. Nos. 2 and 3 are timber-framed and plastered, with an oversailing upper part supported by carved brackets. No. 4 has a single gable facing The Green, with colour-washed brick on the ground floor, rendered upper gable, and tile hanging to the Herd Street front. The roof is tiled. Nos. 2 and 3 feature three dormer casements with tile-hung cheeks and gables. The first floor has two three-light 18th-century casements flanking a central similar two-light window. On the ground floor are two doors with plain frames, set into the corners, and two 18th-century two-light casements, all under a small, tiled pent roof. No. 4 includes an attic sash window, a three-light first-floor casement, and a modern bay window on the ground floor, while the Herd Street front has neo-Georgian windows and a door. C19 iron railings are present at No. 3. The buildings are part of a group with Nos. 1A to 5 and with Nos. 3 to 15 Silverless Street.
