Description
THE GREEN 1. 5407 (North Side) No 1 SU 1869 1/72 18.7.49. II* GV 2. Cl8. 3 storey. Chequer brick on projecting plinth, projecting 4 course strings over ground and lst floor windows. Heavy moulded wood cornice, Hipped slate roof. 7 windows to upper floors all 2 panes wide, with large panes, 2 panes high on 2nd floor and 4 panes high on 1st floor. 6 windows on ground floor, all 3 panes wide, the right hand pair only have original glazing. All windows have stone cills. Central 6-Panel door in heavy architrave frame, set in stone porch of Doric pilasters and columns with entablature of triglyph frieze, with rosette ornament, moulded cornice and broken curved pediment with central stone urn. Porch stands on stone landing approached by 6 steps, and has early Cl9 lamp holder over. Interior: Right hand ground floor room has plaster cornice with modillions and egg and dart moulding; chimneypiece with egg and dart moulding, architrave and cornice, pulvinated frieze with oak leaf mouldings and festoon of fruit on raised panel; 2 doorways with pulvinated frieze, dentils and egg and dart moulding. 2 modern Ionic columns support lintel across centre of room. Nos 1A to 5 (consec) form a group, with Nos 3 to 15 (consec) Siverless Street.
