Description
Number 8, including railings, is a building dating from the 17th to early 18th century. It has two storeys and an attic. The ground floor is made of brick, while the first floor features a moulded string course and is tile-hung above a tilted overstring. The building has a moulded and coved plaster eaves cornice and an old tiled roof. There is one four-light dormer with 19th-century lights, and on the first floor, there are two four-light casement windows—one on the left with leaded glass and the other on the right with 19th-century lights. Below the right-hand first-floor window, there is one four-light fixed window and one small sash window. The door consists of four flush panels with three glazed lights at the top, framed by an architrave surround and topped with a plain flat hood, located in the right-hand corner. The early 19th-century railings at the front add to its character. This building, along with Nos 3 to 8 and Rosetree, forms a group with Nos 9 to 15 opposite and with Nos 1A to 5 on The Green.
