Description

This is an 18th-century pair of cottages on the south side of Shrivenham High Street. The cottages are built of colourwashed rubble stone with brick attics and openings, and have a thatched roof that is half-hipped at the east end and gabled at the west, with three brick stacks. The range is one storey high, with an attic. Number 49 has a two-light, four-pane casement window in one eyebrow dormer, and a three-light, four-pane triangular-shaped casement in the other. The ground floor has a three-light, four-pane casement and a two-light casement, both beneath wooden lintels, either side of a plank door. Number 51 has a two-light, eight-pane casement with leaded panes to each eyebrow dormer, and three-light, two-pane windows on the ground floor, either side of a plank door.
