3/303 Gate piers, gates and railings adjacent to South Lodge

GV II

Gate piers, gates and railings to south drive of Pythouse. Circa 1869 for Bennetts of Pythouse. Lime stone ashlar; two pairs of piers to carriage entrance and to two side gates, shaped recessed panels and friezes to corniced cappings, main piers have lions holding shields of Bennett Arms, side gate piers have ball finials. Cast iron gates to side gates, carriage gates missing. Curved flanking dwarf walls attached to either side and in front of South Lodge (q.v.) have good spear head cast-iron railings and square end piers.
