Description

The tunnel under Pythouse Drive is a Grade II listed structure located in West Tisbury, likely built in the early 19th century. It features rock-faced limestone stilted segmental arched portals leading into a barrel-vaulted tunnel. The tunnel has a low parapet with square end piers. It carries a driveway that runs through an avenue of limes and is accessed via 18th-century gates located north of Hatch House. It is possible that this drive was redirected westward over the tunnel after the Benetts acquired Hatch House in the mid-19th century.
