Description
This building, at 45-49 Catherine Street, dates to the 16th century. It was originally a two-storey building with an attic and a timber frame, with a gabled overhang. The upper levels of the building have been demolished, leaving the ground floor intact. This section retains the timber frame, now filled with modern brick. Remnants of the former overhang remain, including projecting beam ends and heavy brackets which once supported it. Intact, flush-framed sash windows with glazing bars are present, and to the left is a reset oak door with a four-centred arched head and carved spandrels, set within a heavy moulded oak frame, with applied strips.
