Description
The wall and gate located to the north of the former Wesleyan Methodist Church date from the early to mid-19th century. This structure runs along Mason's Hill at the northern boundary of the churchyard and connects to the west end of Nos 5 and 6 Mason's Lane. The wall is constructed from coursed rubble blocks and stands approximately 5 feet high, topped with a plain coping. At the west end, there are two gatepiers that are square in shape, featuring plain bases, chamfered edges, and projecting tops with lunettes on each side. Above the gateway, there is a wrought-iron lamp-bracket. The entrance is flanked by double wrought-iron gates that display a spear motif. This wall and gate, along with Nos 9 to 12, Nos 14 to 16, Nos 19 to 23, and the former Wesleyan Methodist Church, form a cohesive group of historic structures.
