Description

The Mortuary Chapel at the Non-Conformist Burial Ground, built around 1822, features an ashlar fronted screen that serves as a shelter. It has a slight central pedimented break supported by paired pilasters. The frieze includes the inscription "Mors Janua Vitae." There are pilasters on the sides, along with a cornice and a blocking course. The central entrance is framed by a moulded architrave. The architect W J Stent is commemorated on the north wall of this small burial ground with a series of bronze belts of philacteries.
