Description

The Non-conformist Mortuary Chapel, located at the east end of Chapel Avenue in the City of London Cemetery, was built in 1855 by William Haywood. It is constructed of rubblestone with ashlar dressings and features a decorated Gothic style. The chapel has a tiled pitched roof that culminates in a parapet. It consists of a short nave with an octagonal pyramidal roof at the altar end and is supported by buttresses. The south elevation has a gabled central entrance flanked by two bays of blind arcading on each side, with a circular traceried window above. The other windows are single light with pointed traceried heads. A small crocketed bellcote is positioned to the right of the entrance gable, and there are gabled chimneys over the windows on either side of the entrance. The parapet is adorned with pinnacles and thick carved decoration around the parapet and windows. The interior has not been seen.
