Description
This monument, located at the south end of the axis south from the Columbarium and Non-Conformist Chapel at the City of London Cemetery, was erected in 1871 by the City Corporation and designed by engineer William Haywood. It is a three-stage stone structure topped with a cross, featuring a decorated Gothic style. The monument has grey granite panels on its four faces, with only one face inscribed. At the corners of the second stage, there are four standing female figures, and one monster figure remains on the first stage. The monument commemorates the bodies that were removed from St Andrew's, Holborn and St Sepulchre, London, for the improvement of Holborn Viaduct Street.
