Description

The Chapel on Central Avenue at the City of London Cemetery is a Church of England Mortuary Chapel built in 1855 by William Haywood. It is constructed of rubblestone with ashlar dressings and features a tiled pitched roof. The chapel has a three-bay nave and a trefoil-shaped apsed east end. To the left of the entrance facade is an octagonal tower that is buttressed and has pinnacled flying buttresses along with a crocketed spire. The west window is ogee-shaped and has flanking pinnacles, consisting of five lights with a traceried oculus. The entrance is gabled and retains its original traceried timber door. The nave has buttresses topped with pinnacles, and the gable above the east window is adorned with carved monsters. Additional monsters can be found below the tower parapet. The interior has not been seen.
