Description

Eastway is an early 19th century building located on the north side of East Street, Warminster. It is arranged in an 'L' shape, recessed to the right where it connects to an extension at the rear of No. 73. The front of the building is faced with ashlar stone, while the east side is brick. It features a moulded cornice and parapet, topped by a slate roof. The gable end facing the road has a plinth, a band at the level of the ground floor lintel, and another at the level of the first-floor window sills. A tripartite window sits here, with reeded mullions on the ground floor and glazing bar sashes with segmental arches above. The first-floor window has a glazing bar casement that opens onto an original verandah with a tented roof and cast iron balcony. A doorway on the set back front is topped by a segmental pediment supported by engaged Doric shafts. The east return has a range of windows, with segmental heads on the first floor. The building links to a two-story brick and rubble range with old tiled roofs at the rear of No. 73. This rear range includes two three-light casement windows and a round-headed stair window with marginal glazing, facing Imber Road (which is partially timber-framed).
