Description
No. 36 Boreham Road is a building dated 1718 that has been altered over time. It is two storeys tall with a basement, constructed from coursed and squared rubble with ashlar quoins, and features a brick gable end. The roof is made of pantiles and has a tall brick chimney. The gable end faces the road, and there are two windows on the first floor, which have stone chamfered mullions and leaded casements. The ground floor has later windows, including a shop window that features a glazing bar sash with a moulded stucco architrave, which is eared with lions' masks, and is topped by a rich modillion cornice. There is a blocked doorway to the right of the shop window. Above the ground floor, there is a square datestone with an oval panel that contains the initials "C.M.M." and the year "1718," with decorated corners. A 2-light mullioned window is retained on the east side, while the rest of the windows have been altered.
