Description

This milestone, located 450 metres south of the turn to Winterbourne Bassett on the west side of the A361, dates from the 18th or early 19th century. It is made of painted stone and has a half cylindrical section with a grooved top. The painted inscription indicates distances to Swindon (8 miles) and Devizes (12 miles), and it features a benchmark.
