Description

The barn at Lower Cowesfield Farm is likely from the late 17th century and has been altered over time. It features weatherboarding on a timber frame with an English bond brick plinth. The roof has pantiles on the eastern pitch, while the western pitch is covered with corrugated asbestos. The barn consists of four bays and has a tie-beam roof supported by raking queen struts, principals, and purlins, all resting on jowled main posts with short straight wind bracing. A 20th-century floor has been inserted into the structure.
