Description
Broxmore Farmhouse is a detached house dating from the early 17th century, with a late 17th-century wing. It features square-panelled timber-framing with brick nogging, some of which is arranged in herringbone patterns, and has a tiled roof with a grouped brick stack located centrally on the earlier range. The building originally had a baffle-entry plan but has been modified to an L-plan.
The house is two storeys high and has a one-window front on the late 17th-century range. There is a planked door set in a heavy beaded case, and to the left, a three-light casement window with a relieving arch. On the first floor, there is a two-light casement. The earlier range on the right features a 16-pane sash window and a three-light casement window in a hipped dormer. The left return wall displays an all-over lozenge diaper pattern, with three-light casements on the ground, first, and attic floors. An outshut to the left has a two-light casement.
At the rear, the outshut has two hipped dormers, and a single-storey extension includes a planked door and two-light casements beneath a hipped roof. The rear of the earlier build has two 20th-century patio doors and one leaded casement in the attic; this wall was rebuilt around 1800 in Flemish garden wall bond. Inside, the farmhouse is said to have chamfered beams and exposed joists, an open fireplace with a chamfered lintel and brick jambs, and a timber-framed partition between the outshut and wing.
