Description

This is a detached cottage dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of stretcher bond brick and has a thatched roof with gable-end brick stacks. The cottage is two storeys high and has two windows on each floor. A central planked door is sheltered by a tiled porch. There are two two-light casement windows on either side of the door, each with shutters. The upper floor has two further two-light casement windows, and light timber framing. A glazed extension from the 20th century is located to the left, with a ground floor casement and first floor timber framing. A rear outshut also features casements. The interior originally contained a single heated room, featuring an open fireplace with a chamfered lintel, a chamfered beam with step and runout stops, and exposed joists. A second brick stack was added in the early 19th century. The cottage represents a good example of an unaltered 18th-century building.
