Description

Dairyhouse Farmhouse is a late 17th-century farmhouse. It was later faced with brick and had a north bay added in the late 18th century, with further heightening in the 19th century. The house is built in English bond brick, with a concrete tiled roof and gable end brick stacks. It has two storeys and a three-window front, set at a right angle to the road. A 20th-century gabled porch with a door sits to the right of the centre of the front elevation. To the right of the porch is a two-light casement window, and to the left are a two-light and a three-light casement window. The first floor has three 19th-century two-light casement windows. The right return has 20th-century casement windows and a brick stack. The left return features a lean-to extension built with Flemish bond brick. The rear elevation includes 1930s and 1980s extensions to the right, and a two-light casement window and a dormer window to the attic to the left. The interior contains deeply chamfered beams and exposed joists with step and run-out stops. There is an open fireplace with a chamfered beam featuring curved corners, and the staircase was formerly on the west side of the fireplace. A room from the 18th century has a chamfered beam with ogee stops. The building was originally timber-framed. It shares similar details with Chalkpit Farmhouse.
