Description
Chalkpit Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse that dates back to the early 17th century, with a brick facade added in the 18th century and a rear extension from the 19th century. The building features Flemish bond brickwork, a half-hipped tiled roof, an axial brick stack, and an external 18th-century stack on the left side. Originally designed with a baffle entry, this feature is now located within a later wing. The farmhouse has a two-storey, two-window front with two-light casements and a blocked door. On the right side, there is a modern inserted door, a three-light casement to the left, and a two-light casement on the first floor. The rear includes a two-light casement on the right and a 19th-century addition on the left, which has a two-light casement and a modern window. Inside, the farmhouse boasts a deeply chamfered beam and exposed joists with step and mount stops, an open fireplace with an elliptical brick arch, a timber-framed partition, and 18th-century stairs. A heavy oak doorcase remains in the wall between the extension and the original 17th-century structure, indicating the former baffle entry. The details of Chalkpit Farmhouse are similar to those found at Dairyhouse Farmhouse.
