Description

Ashmore House is a detached house built in the early 19th century, with an enlargement around 1860. The house is constructed of rendered brick, with the addition in English bond brick, and has a Welsh slate hipped roof and rendered stacks. The L-shaped house has a three-window facade. A late 19th-century porch shelters a 6-panelled front door, with a 12-pane sash window to the right. The first floor has three 9-pane sashes. Deep eaves are present. The left side of the house features margin-pane French windows and sashes, alongside a verandah. The right side has a 16-pane sash and a half-glazed door in a porch with a fanlight. A rear wing has a 25-pane sash window on the ground floor and 12-pane sashes on the first floor. Attached to the rear right are single-storey outhouses and stables built in Flemish bond brick, featuring planked doors, pivot-hung windows, and 2-light casements, all with Welsh slate roofs. The interior is said to contain 6-panelled doors in moulded architraves, decorative plaster ceiling cornices, and a newel staircase with an oak handrail.
