Description
Wylye Cottage is a detached cottage located in Upton Lovell, dating from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of banded flint with limestone and features a tiled roof adorned with bands of fishscale tiles, along with an axial stone stack. The cottage has a baffle entry and is two stories high with two windows. The central gabled porch includes a planked door, flanked by segmental-headed, two-light cast-iron casements with diamond panes on either side, and there are two similar windows on the first floor. The left side of the cottage has a two-light, 20th-century ground floor casement and a blind segmental-headed window on the first floor, along with a single-light attic casement. A 20th-century lean-to extension is attached to the right side, and there is a 20th-century wing at the rear to the left, as well as a lean-to at the rear right. This cottage is a good example of an estate cottage that retains its original windows.
