Description
Walnut Cottage is a detached cottage dating to the late 17th century. It is constructed of chequered flint and limestone with a thatched roof and gable end brick stacks. The cottage is two storeys and an attic, with a two-window front. The ground floor features a central planked door set within a chamfered stone surround, with strap hinges. To the left of the door is a two-light recessed chamfered mullioned casement window, and to the right a three-light mullioned casement. The first floor has a two-light and a three-light mullioned casement. A 20th-century four-light casement window illuminates the attic dormer. The left return side has a two-light mullioned casement window on the first floor and another to the attic. The right return has a single casement window to both the ground and first floors, as well as a single chamfered light to the attic. The rear of the cottage includes a 19th-century single-storey extension with a slate roof. The main range’s first floor retains a two-light mullioned casement. The interior was inaccessible at the time of survey in September 1985.
