Description
Jubilee Cottage is a detached cottage located in Boyton, dating from the late 17th century, with a late 19th-century addition on the east end. The cottage features square-panelled timber-framing with brick nogging and weatherboard cladding on the south side. The 19th-century section is constructed from rubble stone with brick dressings, topped with a half-hipped thatched roof and brick stacks. The building has a gable end facing the road and is single storey with an attic, featuring two windows with casements. The central entrance has a four-panelled door within a 20th-century porch, flanked by two-light casements. The attic includes one-light and two-light casements. On the left side, there is a 20th-century four-light casement in the renewed timber-framed gable-end wall. The right side has a two-light casement on the ground floor and two segmental-headed two-light casements on the first floor. The rear has two-light casements on the ground floor and three eyebrow dormers, with the original timber-framing exposed on this wall. The interior reportedly contains a blocked open fireplace. This cottage is a rare example of surviving timber-framing in the area.
