Description
Timothy J Thick and Vogue is a pair of houses with shops, likely built as a single premises in the 17th century, with significant modifications in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building features coursed rubble with ribbon pointing and a plain tile roof that replaced the original thatch. It is two storeys high with an attic and has a symmetrical arrangement of windows, with two on each side.
On the left side at ground level, there is a small horizontal light in a blocked opening that once led to an original through-way, alongside a paired sash window and a plate glass shop front with a glazed door to the right. The first floor has a paired sash window and a margin bar sash, along with a small 2-light gabled dormer. The right side has a plank door leading to the through-way, a glazed door, and two plate glass display windows beneath two paired 12-pane sash windows and a 2-light gabled dormer.
The large roof slope features a brick stack on the left, set back near the centre, and the right gable has a high coped upstand that suggests it was originally thatched. This building was formerly known as Mere Co-Operative Stores and appears to have originally been constructed as two or more cottages, both of which have deep back wings.
