Description
Balcony Cottage is a house, originally two separate homes, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed and square limestone, with large greensand quoins at the left end, and features a Welsh slate roof with a brick ridge stack. The property used to be situated on one side of a narrow lane but now serves as a closure to the east side of The Square.
The building has two storeys and features a symmetrical arrangement of windows with a 2+2 configuration. The left half has a 20-pane sash window and an 8-pane sash window flanking a 20th-century aluminium framed door that leads to a pent hood, situated below two half-dormers with aluminium sash windows. The right half has 16-pane sash windows at both levels. All windows have exposed sash boxes and wooden lintels. Balcony Cottage is significant as it completes the eastern end of The Square and is adjacent to The Manse on the right. The interior has not been inspected.
