Description

This milestone, located about 300 metres south of the junction with the road to Stoford, dates from the late 18th century. It is made of limestone and features a cast-iron plate on the front that reads "SALISBURY/5/DEVIZES/18." Below the plate, there is an incised bench mark. This milestone marks the Salisbury to Devizes road, which was turnpiked between 1760 and 1762.
