Description
Nos 16 and 18 on St Nicholas's Road are a pair of buildings with origins dating back to the 16th century or earlier, and they have been altered in the 17th and 18th centuries. The buildings are three stories tall with an attic, facing the river. They are constructed of brick with tile-hung gable ends, and the first floor is likely built on timber framing. The roof is made of old tiles.
The south gable features irregular casement windows and a door. The east front, which faces the bridge, is two stories high. It has a stucco first floor and an oversailing second floor that is tile-hung with shaped tiles. This front includes two casement windows on the second floor and two fixed lights on the first floor, with two six-panel doors in the center flanked by side pilasters.
Nos 16 and 18 are part of a group with Nos 7 to 11 (odd).
