Stokes Marsh Farmhouse

Stokes Marsh Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century, which was altered and extended in the early 19th century for the Erlestoke Estate. The 17th-century section is built in English garden wall bond brick with stone quoins, while the 19th-century section is constructed in Flemish bond brick. The building has a Welsh slate hipped roof and brick stacks, forming an L-plan.

The farmhouse is two stories high and features a three-window north front. The central entrance consists of a four-panelled door set within a 20th-century gabled porch, flanked by two-light casements. On the first floor, there are three 20th-century casements that were formerly sash windows. The right side of the building has a two-light 20th-century casement on the ground floor, while the 17th-century range includes a three-light cyma moulded mullioned casement on both the ground and first floors, with a moulded string course above the ground floor lintel.

On the left side, there is a two-light casement on the ground floor and a 20th-century casement on the first floor, along with 20th-century patio doors and a two-light mullioned casement in the 17th-century range. The rear of the farmhouse includes an attached former cheese room and dairy, likely from the 18th century, which features two-light casements and planked doors. The interior is said to have blocked mullioned windows between the front and rear ranges, making this farmhouse an example of cheese-making architecture in the Avon valley.
