Description
EAST COULSTON - ST 95 NW 2/126 Stokes Marsh Farmhouse II Farmhouse. Late C17, altered and extended early C19 for Erlestoke Estate. C17 range in English garden wall bond brick with stone quoins, C19 range in Flemish bond brick, Welsh slate hipped roof, brick stacks. L-plan. Two-storey, 3-window north front. Central 4-panelled door within C20 gabled porch, 2-light casement either side. First floor has three 2-light C20 casements, formerly sashes. Right return has 2-light C20 casement to ground floor, C17 range has 3-light cyma moulded mullioned casement to ground and first floor, moulded string course over ground floor lintel. Left return has 2-light casement to ground floor, C20 casement to first floor, C17 range has C20 patio doors and 2-light mullioned casement. Rear has attached former cheese room and dairy, probably C18, with 2-light casements and planked doors. Interior said to have blocked mullioned windows between front and rear ranges.
