Description
Barrack Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates from the late 16th century, with an addition from the 18th century and part of it was demolished in the 20th century. The building features square-panelled timber-framing with wattle and daub infill, while the 18th-century range is constructed of English garden wall bond brick. It has a double Roman or pantiled roof, adorned with ceramic ridge cresting and brick stacks. The farmhouse is designed in an L-shape, with only the cross wing of the larger 16th-century structure remaining, alongside the 18th-century addition to the west. It is two storeys high and has two windows. There is a six-panelled door located in a trellised porch to the right, with a blocked 2-light casement window above it. The 16th-century cross wing to the left features 2-light casement windows on both the ground and first floors, and has a barge board with a pendant. The left return of the building shows a truncated 16th-century range. The interior was not accessible during the survey conducted in July 1986.
