Description
Moors Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from around 1700, with extensions added in the late 18th century and a refronting that occurred around 1840. The building features dressed limestone at the rear and a front made of Flemish bond brick, topped with a Welsh slate roof and gable end brick stacks. It is two stories high with an attic and has a three-window south front. The central door has six fielded panels and is set in a gabled trellised porch, flanked by 16-pane sash windows. On the first floor, there is a central 12-pane sash window with 16-pane sash windows on either side. A gabled 19th-century dormer contains a two-light casement window. Attached to the left side of the farmhouse is a two-story former cheese room from the 19th century, which now serves as an office and bedroom on the first floor, featuring two-light and three-light casements. The right side of the building is constructed of rubble stone, with the former roofline visible, indicating an earlier structure before the rear outshut was added. The rear of the farmhouse has two-light and three-light leaded and wooden casements on both the ground and first floors of the two-story outshut, which probably dates from the late 18th century. The rear of the cheese room includes a glazed porch that was formerly open-fronted. The interior was partly remodeled in the 1980s by the Duchy of Cornwall. This farmhouse is a good example of a lowland dairy farm in the parish.
