Description
East Knoyle Windmill is a tower windmill, likely built around 1800. It is constructed of rubble stone and features two decorative bands of ashlar. The roof is tiled and has been renewed. The windmill has a circular tapered tower that stands on a circular platform, with steps leading up from ground level. There are two opposing blocked doorways, with the northern doorway still displaying a beaded stone architrave. Former loading bays on the east and west sides have louvred shutters, and the roof is adorned with four hipped dormers, each with shutters. It is noted that the windmill is said to have retained weatherboarded capping and sails until around 1930.
