Description
Clouds The Gables is a pair of semi-detached cottages that were originally built as a laundry for Clouds House in the 1880s. Designed by Philip Webb for Percy Wyndham, the cottages are constructed of English bond brick and feature a tiled hipped roof with large axial brick stacks. The building has a symmetrical cross plan with a short front wing that includes entrances. It is a single storey structure with a weatherboarded front gable and planked doors on either side. The wings on each side have three-light and two-light segmental-headed leaded casements, and the roof at the gable ends has a catslide with gablets. The central area features large grouped diagonally-set stacks. Clouds The Gables is part of a group of service buildings that extend down the hill to the northeast of Clouds House.
