Description

Allens is a detached cottage dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of dressed limestone and features a thatched roof with a brick stack on the right side. The entrance front faces away from the road and is single-storey with an attic, comprising two windows. The central planked door is topped with a flat wooden hood supported by brackets, and there are three-light casements on either side, with the right one being leaded. The cottage has two eyebrow dormers, each with three-light casements; the left dormer is also leaded. The rear and the right return of the building are windowless. There is a single-storey extension in English bond brick on the left return, which includes casements and a blocked doorway facing the road. The interior was not accessible during the survey in August 1986.
