Description
Little Leigh is a farmhouse that has been converted into a detached house. It dates from the early 17th century and was altered in the mid-20th century. The building is constructed from rubble stone and features a hipped tiled roof with a lateral stone stack with offsets on the front wall.
It is two stories high and has five windows. To the right of the stack, there is a chamfered pointed doorway with a ledged door. To the right of this doorway, there is a 2-light ovolo-mullioned casement and a 20th-century casement. To the left, there are a 2-light and a 3-light mullioned casement. On the first floor, there are a 2-light and a 4-light mullioned casement, along with a Tudor-arched light to the left, a 20th-century stair window, and a 3-light mullioned casement to the right.
The left side of the building has a 2-light ovolo-mullioned casement on the first floor, a 2-light recessed chamfered mullioned casement in the attic, and a 20th-century glazed door. The rear of the house features a 20th-century door set in a Tudor-arched wooden surround, a 20th-century three-light casement to the left, and 4-light and 3-light 20th-century mullioned casements to the right that reuse sections of 17th-century mullions. The first floor has four similar reset mullioned casements.
There is a mid-20th-century rear wing to the left, which is partly timber-framed with brick nogging, while the right return is made of stone. This wing has 20th-century mullioned casements with leaded lights. The interior was not accessible during the survey in August 1986, but it is said to have been remodeled in the 1930s while retaining some early 17th-century fittings, including fireplaces.
