Description
Manor Farmhouse is an 18th-century farmhouse that was extended in the 19th century. It is built from dressed limestone and features a hipped stone slate roof with stone stacks. The building has an L-shaped plan, originally designed with a through passage.
The front of the house is two stories high and has three windows. To the right, there is a planked door set in a chamfered surround, which is sheltered by a stone-slated porch. To the left of the door, there are two 3-light chamfered mullioned casements, and on the first floor, there are three more 3-light mullioned casements. The 19th-century wing that projects to the right includes a 12-pane tripartite sash window on the ground floor and a 16-pane sash window on the first floor, along with a moulded eaves cornice.
The right side of the house has blocked mullioned casements and a small sash window. At the rear, there is a planked door, a blocked doorway leading to the rear of the through passage, and a single-storey lean-to extension on the right with a double Roman tiled roof. The left side also has blocked mullioned casements.
Inside, there is a notable 18th-century fireplace surround with Ionic columns, a dentil cornice, and an egg and dart eared surround, which may have been brought from Monkton Farleigh Manor. Additionally, there are reset fragments of 12th-century mouldings and a fine tympanum featuring stylised foliage carving above the front door.
