GV II

Farmhouse. C18, extended C19. Dressed limestone, hipped stone slate roof with stone stacks. L-plan, former through passage plan. Two-storey, 3-window front. Planked door in chamfered surround within stone slated porch to right, two 3-light chamfered mullioned casements to left and three 3-light mullioned casements to first floor. C19 wing projecting to right has 12-pane tripartite sash to ground floor and 16-pane first floor sash, moulded eaves cornice. Right return has blocked mullioned casements and small sash. Rear has planked door, blocked doorway to rear of through passage, single-storey lean-to extension to right with double Roman tiled roof. Left return has blocked mullioned casements. Interior has good C18 fireplace surround with Ionic columns, dentil cornice and egg and dart eared surround, possibly brought here from Monkton Farleigh Manor (q.v.). Reset fragments of C12 mouldings and a fine tympanum with stylised foliage carving over front door.
