Description

The Lodge is a Grade II listed building located at the entrance to The Manor House in Monkton Farleigh. It was built in the early 19th century and is constructed of limestone ashlar with a hipped Welsh slate roof that features an axial terracotta stack adorned with rosette decoration. This single-storey lodge has a polygonal front and includes a verandah supported by octagonal wooden posts. The main entrance features a pointed door with Y glazing bars, flanked by two pointed windows also with Y glazing bars. At the rear, the cottage extends to the edge of the front verandah roof, showcasing pointed windows on the returns. There is a 20th-century lean-to extension at the rear. The Lodge is a typical example of early 19th-century lodge architecture.
