Description

No. 50 is a lodge cottage located at the end of the north drive to Monkton Farleigh Manor. It dates from the 18th and 19th centuries and is constructed from coursed rubble stone with a stone slate roof featuring coped verges and diagonally-set stone stacks. The cottage is two stories high and has a three-window front that faces the rear of the Manor House. To the left of the center, there is a half-glazed door, with a single casement and a two-light casement to the right. A plat band runs along the first floor, which features two-light and two three-light cyma-mullioned casements with hoodmoulds.

On the right side, there is a two-story 19th-century bay addition that includes two-light casements and a battlemented parapet on its flat roof. The rear of the cottage, which faces the road, has a planked door flanked by pairs of leaded pointed windows, a blocked doorway to the right, and a 20th-century casement window on the first floor. The building is included primarily for its group value with the surrounding structures.
