Description
Semley Baptist Church is a Baptist chapel built in 1823, as indicated by a stone tablet above the entrance. The building is constructed of dressed limestone and features a Welsh slate roof. It has a gable end facing the road, with the entrance located below a gallery at the east end. The entrance is marked by a gabled porch that includes a round-arched doorway with a keystone and imposts, a cast-iron bootscraper, and flanking buttresses, with lancet windows on the sides of the porch.
On either side of the porch, there are pairs of round-arched windows with imposts and square pilasters. A plat band runs along the gallery, which has two round-arched windows with round-arched panels above, imposts, and pilasters, along with the stone tablet displaying the date.
The left side of the building features 20th-century casements and a planked door to the left, along with two 2-light mullioned casements with roll-mouldings on the ground floor. The first floor has two 2-light round-arched windows and a 20th-century two-light casement.
The right side has two 2-light mullioned casements and a 2-light casement on the ground floor, while the first floor features two 2-light round-arched casements and a 20th-century casement to the right. The interior was not accessible during the survey conducted in January 1986.
